Position Description
The Financial Quality Specialist obtains all necessary patient demographics, insurance and financial information for all scheduled patients prior to the date of service. Enters data into the patient information computer system. Interacts with patients, physicians and medical personnel to research clinical information from electronic medical record to obtain authorizations/referrals/pre-certifications from third party payers and conveys this information to staff of third party payers including physicians and nurses. Responsible for providing customer service excellence in a professional manner and serves as the voice of Georgia Regents Medical Center when interacting with the public on a daily basis. Can interact with patients in person and will work in close proximity to other co-workers internal and external to Ambulatory Patient Access Services (APAS).
Position Requirements
Minimum requirements:High School Diploma 2-4 years experience interaction with customers in an administrative office environment, preferably in a hospital/medical office setting. Excellent customer service skills with strong demonstrable communications skills. Experience must include, computer/data entry, high-volume telephone, basic cpt/hcpc's/icd coding for reimbursement, Microsoft Excel/Word. Must possess decision-making and problem-solving ability for complex scenarios that arise with evidence provided in resume. Ability to correctly spell diagnoses, procedures, patient names. Medical terminology desired.Overall knowledge and understanding of the revenue cycle and accounts receivable.
Preferred Requirements
Two or four year college degree preferred.
