Summary:
Monitors the behavior and activities of clients who stay at our Center of Hope homeless shelter in Augusta, GA; helps ensure the security and safety of the clients and staff by working to enforce compliance with rules and policies.

MONITORING OF FACILITY (90%):
Monitors clients' behavior and activities to ensure compliance with program and facility rules and guidelines; advises clients of appropriate behavior, rules and policies.
Provides monitoring for the building and grounds by being aware of activities happening across the campus.
Maintains awareness of activities occurring outside of the building; ensures that vehicles are parked in designated areas; ensures property is not vandalized.
Monitors telephones, security cameras, and fire alarm system; notifies proper authorities and supervisor when emergency assistance is needed.
Ensures all exterior and office doors are locked and secured after business hours.
Ensures that any fire hazards or unsafe conditions are reported.
Reports suspected contraband or inappropriate items which jeopardize the security and safety of other clients and staff.
Prepares and maintains logs and records for assigned shift; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
Locks and unlocks gates and doors as needed.
Responds to emergencies by calling for the police or ambulances for emergency services and aids clients until help arrives.
Always remains calm, works to de-escalate emotionally charged situations, and initiates appropriate corrective actions in accordance with Center of Hope policies.
Responsible for contacting local police for clients who become unruly, blatantly not following rules, and or becoming a threat to employees and other clients.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES (10%):
Answers phone calls, takes messages and logs all calls properly.
Participates in staff in-service trainings and mandatory meetings, as directed.
Completes daily cleanliness check list.
Performs other related work as required.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:

EDUCATION AND
Experience:
High School Diploma or G.
E.
D.
preferred but not required, and Six months experience working with the public with experience working in security or facility monitoring preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid and Current Driver's License First Aid, C.
P.
R.
Certification KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of security practices and procedures.
Ability to influence and control human behavior and enforce security rules and guidelines.
Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and in a calm and effective manner while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective actions.
Ability to observe client and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (less than 25 - 50lbs,) materials, supplies, and equipment.
Moderate mobility:
duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking on a frequent change basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an outdoor and office environment where there are moderate discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
