Schedules and may be assisted by lower level employees in preparing planting areas; watering, fertilizing, planting, pruning and trimming plants, shrubs and trees. Maintains flowers and seeded areas to ensure attractive appearance. Determine quantities of plants and materials required for specific areas. Identifies and applies treatment for plant diseases, insects and related problems.
Physical Effort : Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and the pushing of carts and wheelbarrows. Climbing is required to prune or trim vegetation. Lifts and carries heavy objects such as bags of fertilizer, grass seed, etc. weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions : Work is done outside, possibly in rain or in uncomfortably hot and humid conditions. Exposed to cuts and bruises from falls or from carrying materials and supplies. Exposed to dirt, dust, mud, chemical sprays and dust. Required to wear protective clothing such as gloves and safety glasses.
Knowledge of plants and gardening procedures is required to determine proper conditions and methods for planting and cultivating. Skill in applying fertilizers evenly and placing seeds and plants at proper depths. Skill in operating hand and power tools and equipment. Ability to recognize and treat for plant diseases, insects, and/or unusual or poor plant growth. Knowledge of fungicides, insecticides, and herbicide.
Conditions of employment:
1. A one-year probationary period may be required.
2. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.
3. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification check.
4. Successfully complete all required background checks.
5. Satisfactorily complete physical examination.
6. Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
Credit may be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
