Job Description:
Under general supervision, perform both airless and air actuated spray painting applications to both internal and exterior surfaces and structures.
SCOPE:
The Painter prepares surfaces for painting and finishing; applies primers and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials; mixes and matches paints with required catalysts, thinners and activators. Perform blast cleaning as required when necessary. Knowledge of chopper gun applications of fiberglass and polyester resins is an additional benefit.
Weekly work schedule ranges from 40 - 60 hours per week. Work performed under roof with some field work possibilities.
KEY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. The following duties are listed both as trade specific and shared responsibilities.
1. Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and paints flat and round steel plate materials, both structural and non-structural part surfaces utilizing all types of painting materials such as enamels, epoxies, polyesters, red oxides, potable water, jet fuel and heat resistant finishes.
2. Tapes, stripes, repairs paint coatings as required to produce and adequate finished product.
3. Maintains and repairs airless and air assisted painting equipment as necessary.
4. Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
5. Must be able to fill out records that contain the temperature of atmosphere, metal substrate, blst profile, humidity and paint thickness readings after each paint applications.
6. Must be able to read and understand painting specification and paint manufacturers application guidelines to properly mix, apply and clean equipment after each application.
7. Reads and understands blueprint requires for the paint applied.
8. Must be able to work and paint in tight confined spaces when necessary and use safety equipment properly.
OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Record verify inventory usage.
o Be able to operate an overhead crane within OSHA safety guidelines.
o Mark and sort cut pieces according to drawings when necessary.
o Keep paint inventory neat and organized for easy counting and usage in the future.
o Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
o Wearing the proper safety equipment.
o Perform necessary Preventative Maintenance on Production Equipment
o Must be able to learn how to operate other Production Machinery, ability to cross train.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
o One year or more related experience and/or training in painting application specifics.
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
o Weekly work schedule ranges from 40 - 60 hours per week. Work performed under roof with some field work possibilities.
o Employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
o Employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel or crouch for some extended periods.
o Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds.
o Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
